19. Vacation memories: Lugano (part 3)

As stated in part 1 and part 2, we visited the city of Lugano in the southern part of Ticino in Switzerland. When we completed the boat tour, we walked around the town area a little, visited the expensive hoity-toity shops where the rich and famous do their thing, and ultimately discovered a couple of nice churches, one of which was near the train station at the end of our day.

With the heat, the kids have been a little bit…whiny. They either want to swim or eat popsicles or gelato. Anything requiring work (like walking) was met with a little bit of complaining. Not all the time, but often enough.

It kind of grates on your nerves after a while.

7. Vacation memories: exhaustion and a trip down memory lane – part 3

The weird thing about memories is that you never know how they will affect you when you see something that brings you back in time.

When you’re a child, you live in the present in a way adults can’t. Or it takes more effort. At least this is my observation.

Now that I’m a parent I often see things through the kids’ eyes, in a way that I couldn’t before I had kids.

It’s hard to explain.

That first day after arriving in another country is always a little overwhelming, especially for children. If the flight was long (ours was not bad, 6 hours) plus overnight, it can get quite challenging the next day.
