I made a MAJOR decision today. Because the time has come and I can’t take it anymore.
I’ve mentioned my mantra before on this blog, right?
If not now, when?
Today is the day. Today is now.
It was quite by accident (and frustration or possibly exasperation) that I made the decision today rather than another day. It was bothering me so much that I couldn’t help it and took immediate action. Because I do not like discomfort. Ok? I want to be comfortable.
And, comfortable I was not.
Yesterday was even worse. The whole day I was uncomfortable – in the car, at the rink, at my parents’ place, and in the car again.
I hate being uncomfortable. (#firstworldproblems)
So.
Therefore.
I did it today. I finally made the decision and took ultimate, irreversible action…

……..
I took off my bra and threw it in the garbage.
πππ
Then I went and threw all the other ones of the same brand away as well. π
Next steps:
If the weather gets cooler soon I can probably get away without wearing a bra since I’ll be wearing hoodies or sweaters. (And I’m not that big to begin with so I can get away going without…)
Or, I could plan a bra shopping trip. Which requires time (blah) and money (ugh).
Do you know how expensive bras are? It’s almost like the less material they use the more they charge you for it. But for this contraption to actually fit right you have to spend the time to try it on, and spend the money as well. Neither of which I have much of in September.
Ultimately, I just don’t care. I’ll be walking around wearing a tank top underneath a tshirt and if the other dog walkers in the park want to look…
GO AHEAD.
Boo.
At the rink I’m wearing stuff to stay warm so it’s a non issue. And at home…I don’t care. lol
So there you go. How’s that for blog fodder. I could start a new series and call it TMI Monday at Writer of Words etc. π
Until next time. π
+1.
Actually, +2 π

Not that it seems like you care because the deed is done but that sort of thing can instigate an attempted mauling. Not from a bear mind you, but from your hubby. =)

No. I don’t wear a bra. I can’t. I might wear one for a morning and then it digs in so much I’m in pain. Every now and then I try to buy one. I end up with ones so loose, they do nothing except hide the shape of my nipples showing through. Gosh – we’re supposed to have nipples, aren’t we? And I’m glad I have them and am not in a position where I’m wondering what to do after surgery, for instance.
It’s difficult getting clothes that conceal things enough that I’m comfortable. But I don’t think I’ll be able to wear a bra again. I’m not small, but I’m of an age where things are all a little more settled. And – my feminist self coming out here – that should be okay, shouldn’t it?

Yes, it’s all ok. With or without, it’s no one’s business. π

I so wish I could do this! I can’t because it is just way too uncomfortable for me. Granted, I experience different kinds of discomfort wearing them, but it is the lesser of the two evils, sadly. It took me years to figure out that half my problem was that I had the wrong size, even after having been fitted by a supposed professional. It is amazing that you can do this!

So many times I have wanted to do this. Proud of you for having the courage, not just to take one off, but to dump the entire lot of them. I have gone to the cheapest, wire-free, softest style I can find but I still know it’s there. Someone suggested just wearing sports bras…I cannot get those stupid things on or off easily enough so that’s not an answer. While not large by any means, 3 kids/breastfeeding/age leaves things sitting at my short-torso’ed waist level-which is also where all my grandma weight sits. Given all that, maybe no one would actually notice the bra was missing…

Ugh. I have 2 sports bras that are tolerable but they were in the wash. But I know what you mean…it takes a bit of getting used to. My kids were breastfed too and my second nursed me to death for 18 months… π
Cooler weather and hoodies help camouflage things until I have time to go bra shopping. And if not, whatever! Lol

A good bra is expensive and if you have one, you wear it forever!

Exactly. And then my body changed…ugh. π

My sports bra is the most comfortable. But I can’t wear it anywhere and I do need the support.

taking off your bra is one of the best feelings in the whole wide world! Throwing them away must’ve felt really empowering. haha

Hahaha….Being properly measured helps, and you are right – bras are darn expensive. I usually get them south of the border.

Hey – I almost never wear a bra. I HATE THEM! However, I am not very well endowed enough to need them…I use a lot of tape (or nippies) to prevent protrusion but otherwise, I am a part of The Eff the Bra Movement”. π
