Well I’m digging out from under the Christmas debris, err, I mean Christmas gifts, and doing laundry.
Merry Christmas! Isn’t everyone doing chores today on Christmas Day? 🎄😉
Well in my defense I got some brand new, charcoal coloured flannel sheets as a gift and truth of the matter is, there is little I cherish more than a freshly made bed with just-laundered new sheets. They’re in the wash so I can sleep in them tonight. Bliss!
Plus I threw a bunch of the kids’ new clothes in as well. May as well get all of it done today so they can wear their gifts right away.
We celebrated on both the 23rd and the 24th this year, leaving Christmas Day for us to just chill, relax, and putter. I don’t think think we’ve ever had a December 25th like this before… usually, the scheduling of various family involves consulting calendars and debating travel times, menu contributions and date negotiations, agonizing over pets and all that kind of stuff, but this year it was rather simple for a change. It’s a Christmas Miracle!
Note: I’m the only one who is puttering today, the others are doing whatever…I hear the boy yelling downstairs so he’s probably plugged in playing fortnite, and the girl is crafting with her new crafts: squishies, squeezies, clay, fimo and who knows what else. 🙃
The husband is also downstairs clearing clutter off his home office desk. I for one can’t wait to see that part of the basement cleaned up…could it be another Christmas Miracle? 🙄😉
This morning was all kinds of wonderful. We slept late, made coffee, opened more gifts, had smoked salmon for breakfast, then we found Grumpy Old Men on iTunes and watched it while eating Christmas cookies.
Such a fun family movie. Can’t wait to see Grumpier Old Men (again). 😁☺
It was a great way to start the day after two previous days of eating and visiting and eating and family and eating and traveling and eating and cooking and eating and drinking.
We chose the 23rd for the bigger celebration because of out of town family who needed dog-sitting for their two Shepherds. That was with his side. We traveled elsewhere for turkey dinner.
Christmas Eve was spent with my side of the family who came here and I made a glazed ham.
This is what’s left of it.
So I sliced off more and made Hawaiian toast for tonight, about to shove into the oven.
This will be enough food after two days of eating large meals with multiple courses. 🙂
All in all, a successful Christmas.
Wishing you all a happy rest of the holiday season, and do get out there for a walk. Work off those calories! My kids and partner are at an outdoor rink playing shinny hockey, which is basically an informal game with whomever shows up. Tomorrow, maybe I’ll go for a skate too.
Cheers! And bon appetit!
