TGIF

Wanna know what I’m doing right now?

Sitting on the couch with a hot tea and some cookies.

I should not be doing this. Behind me is a half-emptied dishwasher, a counter and sink full of dirty dishes, a couple of bags of unpacked groceries and my lunch plates I just finished using.

In front of me, the TV is on with Y&R playing. This is irritating but I can’t change the channel because I can’t find the remote.

How did I turn the TV on, I wonder? I must have had the remote earlier…

I much rather would watch anything other than this soap opera.

To the forward left of me are six boxes and bins of varying sizes full of Halloween candy.

We could open our own candy store. But then I would have to get off this couch. 😜

I need to find a spot for those, get them out of my line of vision.

At the back of the house and in the kids rooms there are unmade beds. No one seemed to care today.

In the basement in front of the Xbox and PS4 is a rack with clothing I washed and hung up to dry that needs folding and putting away.

The rack is half empty because my son asked me to wash a few things for him while he was in school yesterday. He and his dad left for Niagara Falls to play in a hockey tournament today so he took the clothes he wanted to pack, but left the rest.

They already texted they won game 1 with a score of 8-1.

My kid scored. Yay!

The girl child will need a lift home today because it’s raining and she’s bringing her trombone home.

The trombone is as big as she is.

This means I will have to vacate this couch in an hour and a half to pick her up with the van.

An hour and a half is a long time to get the kitchen organized and the beds made, at least mine…but I’m so comfy right now, I don’t wanna.

My back hurts.

My neck hurts.

I need a Chiro visit and another massage. For that I need to get off my ass and log on to my laptop to book the appointments.

Did I mention I’m comfy on this couch?

Sigh.

Earlier I had to run out for an errand. On the way back I stopped at a Winners to buy the boy some pants. He’s grown, again, and everything is too small. I even found size 3 hiking boots for the girl, waterproof and lined for winter weather. That took care of my weekly paycheck. It’s all gone.

Boo.

Speaking of paycheck, the dog I walk at lunch was giving me trouble when I arrived at 11:45 today. All 13 pounds of him. πŸ˜‚

He doesn’t like rain, or cold, or the little coat he has to wear.

The doggy drama to get the coat on him is usually entertaining but today, we were both kind of lazy. I managed to bribe him with some kibble and got the leash on him, but not the coat, so we finally left. It stopped raining for the moment which is why he tolerated the walk.

I texted his owner and she laughed and lol-ed with an eye-rolling emoji. πŸ™„

Since I got home and ignored the mess, ate lunch and had tea I have done exactly nothing productive. I hope my girl likes leftovers because I’m not cooking tonight. With the boys out of town, we’ll either manage with what’s here, or treat ourselves to a pizza.

Happy Friday! TGIF…πŸ˜‰

  1. This is so damn relatable and sounds like the kind of day I am having today.

I need to go to the gym. I need to get some work done (I have a home office), I need to do the dishes from yesterday’s dinner. I also need to tidy up a little…

    Instead…

I’m on the couch with my phone in my had going through my WordPress reader timeline reading fantastic, humorous pieces like this one while the time ticks by.

    It’s also a rainy Monday…So…

  2. NEVER apologize for tea and cookies. I’m adding this to the middle-aged woman rules, next round.
Some days, you just gotta have a mimosa (oops I mean tea, you’ll be driving) and let it ride. Good for you. She’ll survive, trombone and all. ❀

  3. Some of the best days ever are those where we buck it and don’t do what we think we ‘oughta’ do! Cheers to enjoying the couch and chilling – Mom’s everywhere are inspired by you :-)!
